1. Why have a Sushi Chef at my party?
Our Professional Sushi Chefs are prepared to entertain all of your guests with not only their sushi
preparation skills but with their outgoing and friendly personalities. It truly shows that they love what
they do and will certainly be the life of any occasion. A chef preparing sushi in front of your guests
shows them that you care enough to give them the very best.
2. How does a sushi party work?
Sushi is a unique dining experience, best when used in a social setting. Because sushi is bite-sized,
your guests can socialize with others while still enjoying their delicious treats. Our Sushi Chefs
prepare the delicious delights right in front of you and your guests with superior knife and hand
precision. You bring the guests and we’ll do the rest! Our chef will arrive early to begin preparation
of the sushi ingredients. When your guests arrive, samples of his creations will be ready to enjoy
when they walk up to the station to watch him prepare more. And just like at a sushi bar, your guests
can interact and chat with our chef.
3. How much sushi should I order for my guests?
There are plenty of variables that go into planning your perfect sushi experience. When deciding the
amount of sushi, consider whether you are serving other food besides sushi, whether your guests are
novice sushi eaters or beginners, and ask yourself if the sushi is being served as an appetizer or a
main course. Budget is also a factor and we can customize any menu to fit your needs. Of course,
if you’re feeding the offensive line of a football team, you might want to add a little more to the menu.
4. I want a party with a personal Sushi Chef, what’s included?
Aside from the sushi product and cold sushi case, the Sushi Chef will also provide the soy sauce,
chopsticks, wasabi and pickled ginger. Personality and smiles from our Sushi Chefs and staff are
FREE!
5. What kind of sushi platters do you offer?
Sushi Affair offers an array of sushi platters for all occasions. You can choose from our assortment
of click-and-buy platters or customize your own with special flair. We can even customize a Spam
Musubi platter if needed!
6. What if I don’t eat raw fish?
Sushi Affair offers a variety of cooked rolls such as our delicious Baked Pizza Roll and Spicy Shrimp
Tempura Roll, or you can try our classics like the California Roll or Philadelphia Roll. We also offer a
selection of Veggie Rolls for our health conscious and vegetarian tastes. If your guests are sushi
“virgins”, don’t worry...our Sushi Chefs will educate them on everything they need to know before they
take the “plunge” into the wonderful world of sushi.
7. What if some of my guest don’t eat sushi?
We offer a world class catering menu that includes appetizers, entrees and even desserts. Ask one
of our personable Account Mangers about our menu. We’re sure you’ll find something for everyone.
Don’t worry, if some of your guests are not ready for sushi, we can cook up some darn great steak
and potatoes! Ask us for our complete entree menu.
8. What beverages should I serve with the sushi?
Most clients enjoy a nice cold Asian beer (Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo, Tsing Tao) and/or sake (Japanese
Rice Wine) to accompany their sushi. You may elect to serve Soju, Plum wine or even Pomegranate
wine. If you are unsure of what kind of sake to buy, please click on the link for more information

9. What do I need to provide for the sushi party?
We ask that our client’s provide one 6-foot table (preferably dressed) and one 110-watt outlet so that
we may access electricity for our cold sushi case. In addition, we also ask that you provide napkins
and plates to complement any theme or decor you choose for your event.
10. When’s the latest I can make changes to an order or menu?
All changes should be made no later than 48 hours prior to the event. This will allow us time to keep
a close inventory of the supplies needed to successfully fulfill your desires and insure freshness for
all our ingredients.
11. How fresh is the sushi?
All our sushi are made fresh just before a party and during the party. Sushi Affair prides itself in
obtaining the freshest sushi-grade fish in Southern California. We go above and beyond all practices
to ensure proper handling set forth by the San Diego Health Department.
12. Can sushi be served outdoors?
Absolutely…YES! What better way to celebrate your sunset wedding than having a live Sushi Chef
creating rolls and nigiri right in front of your guests? Or a backyard bash with loved ones and friends
complete with a walk up sushi bar? We do ask to be placed in a shaded area to keep the sushi
(and our chef’s heads) cool. Sushi bars add elegance and sophistication to any outdoor event.
13. What do I do with leftover sushi?
We encourage all sushi to be eaten at its freshest, which is when it’s being made. However, if you
have leftovers, refrigerate immediately, tightly wrap the container with plastic wrap for up to 3 hours.
This will keep the rice from becoming hard. Sashimi (fish only) can be kept refrigerated for up to
5 hours if put into a container. Trust us…in most cases, there won’t be any left.
